Disneyland Paris 3D

Disneyland Paris 3D

After a delayed launch, Disneyland Paris has finally launched their answer to the Walt Disney World in 3D on Google Earth.  Imaginatively titled Disneyland Paris 3D, you can now see the whole of the Paririan resort in wonderfully detailed 3D by searching “Disneyland Paris” in Google Earth.  Once there, you can click the Mickey Ears to enable the 3D views of the resort.

After a short play with it over the weekend, the Paris version of Disney in 3D looks very nice indeed.  We’ve heard reports that on lower specification computers it can be a bit slow to load and navigate (as indeed is the Walt Disney World in 3D service), but on higher specification computers, we had no trouble at all moving around, zooming right in to see the detail and playing with the new toy.

As an added  bonus with the Paris resort’s 3D imagery, a scattering of characters can be found in various places.  For example, Mickey can be seen waving from under the castle (see the picture on the right).  How many can you find?

The French newspaper Le Parisien reported yesterday that a small fire broke out on the roof of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster building at the Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Resort Paris on Wednesday morning.

German news outlet Spiegel Online reported that approximately 120 people were evacuated from the attraction and adjacent attractions, and reports on various forums indicate that a large area of the Production Courtyard ‘land’ of the park was closed off to guests as a precaution.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.  The exact date when the attraction will reopen is not yet known.  Estimates vary from “before the end of the week” to “two to three weeks”.
