D23 has finally been official unveiled today via its new website: http://d23.disney.go.com/

For $74.99, you can be a charter member of the new community, and you’ll receive a one year subscription to the “twenty three” quarterly publication, a membership card and certificate, a bi-weekly D23 FanFare e-newsletter, discounted entry to the D23 Expo on 10-13 September 2009, special events and merchandise and a surprise collectable gift from the Walt Disney Archives Collection.

D23 membership can be purchased from the D23 website and you must join before 31 December, 2009 to be a “D23 Charter Member”.  Also available from the ”Boutique 23″ website is various D23 merchandise including clothing and items from the Walt Disney Signature collection which includes artworks and stationery.  Most of the D23 branded items require a D23 Membership to purchase.

And that all important question is finally answered:  Why 23?  That’s the year Walt Disney left Kansas City to go to Hollywood and founded the Disney Studios.

Disney Shareholders Meeting – D23 to be revealed

Disney’s annual shareholders meeting will take place this afternoon, and among the things to be revealed at the meeting is the meaning of the “Are you 23?” campaign that’s been going on for the last couple of months.

The meeting is due to be broadcast over the internet on the Disney Investors website.

We’ll update the site with more information when all has been revealed.  Stay tuned.

D23 Magazine leaked, provides answer to mystery?

Stitch Kingdom, the site who brought us a sneek peek at an ad placed in the Pinocchio DVD’s insert last week has today posted some photos of what appear to be part of the answer to the “Are you 23?” riddle that’s been swirling around in the Disney communities for a little while now.

The magazine is said to be quarterly, and costs $15.99.  Articles in this premier edition include a look at the work of Annie Leibovitz, a look at Tim Burton’s upcoming 3D film, interviews with Cast Members and more.
